Hostname not Set from /mnt/persist upon First Boot after Installation

Issue

The hostname configured in /mnt/persist/etc/hostname does not apply when switching slots for the first time after installing Cumulus Linux. The configured hostname does not apply until the second boot.

Environment

  • Cumulus Linux 2.2.0

Resolution

This issue has been escalated to a bug (CM-3592) and is targeted for resolution in Cumulus Linux 2.2.1. Click the Follow button on this article to receive updates as the fix moves towards release.

Workaround

Use zero-touch provisioning to set the system hostname on the first boot.

You can access NVIDIA Cumulus support content from the Mellanox support portal.

You open and update new cases on the Mellanox support portal. Any previous cases that have been closed have been migrated to the Mellanox support portal.

Cases that are still open on the Cumulus portal will continue to be managed on the Cumulus portal. Once these cases close, they will be moved to the Mellanox support portal.
